OMG President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize!
I'm in shock.
I didn't even know that he was nominated and it kinda feels a bit too soon. But reading the article I get it. This is a sign to the rest of the world, this is what we want from now on in our leaders. We want diplomacy. We want them to advocate for the end of nuclear weapons. We want them to seek other methods before instigating war and finding ways to end wars. We want what the Obama Presidency embodies, movements towards peace and hope for making better days come.
To be honest I went most of the day without hearing about this. I slept in so I missed the morning news shows and I don't have cable.
Then I went to work on reading checking my e-mail, school stuff, reading fanfiction...and trying to fix my mom's computer.
Sheur2 is the most frustrating trojan horse...my mom's computer is infected up the wahzoo...I'm hoping to save it. We'll see.
So I didn't know any of this until I checked ontd_p and saw the Michael Moore post and I was like "what the fuck? Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize? That can't be right!" and when to HuffPo. I'm still in shock.
I didn't even know he was nominated and he was nominated 2 Weeks into his presidency!
I read up on http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/0 9/obama-wins-nobel-peace-pr_n_314907.htm l and learned that this is more a political maneuver of the Nobel Peace people to show the world leaders they want more people like Obama in power and they want the end of nuclear weapons and that no they will not shut up about it.
Sometimes the Prize is awarded earlier to MOVE the world towards accomplishing the Prize winner's goals and reasons for being given the Prize.
This is message to the rest of the world.
They want peace. They want dipolmacy and they want the END of nuclear weapons.
Obama has promised all of this. He extended his hand to the Muslim nations, he pledges to work towards a nuclear weapon free world, he has called upon the leaders of the world to step the fuck up on global warming and other issues that threaten us all.
And he has done this in less than 9 months of his Presidency.
The award may be premature but it is premature on purpose because it may be too late three years from now.
This is kinda like that Flash Forward show, we know what we want, we see it in the horizon, and they want us to work our way towards it and Obama winning the Peace Prize is our flash forward of consciousness to seeing our dreams come true.
...just my two cents.

This is my favorite part:
Massimo Teodori, one of Italy's leading experts of U.S. history, said the Nobel decision was a clear rejection of the "unilateral, antagonistic politics" of Obama's predecessor, George Bush.
"The prize is well deserved after the Bush years, which had antagonized the rest of the world," Teodori said. "President Obama's policy of extending his hand has reconciled the United States with the international community."</blockquote>
Basically he is saying that Bush fucked up the world and our relations with them so badly that just by Obama apologizing and extending a hand in diplomacy he was able to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize (October 09, 2009 - HuffPo - KARL RITTER AND MATT MOORE)
OSLO — President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to build momentum behind his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.
Obama said he was surprised and deeply humbled by the honor, and planned to travel to Oslo to accept the prize.
"I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honored by this prize," he said. "I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century."
Many observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline and has yet to yield concrete achievements in peacemaking.~
Members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee said their choice could be seen as an early vote of confidence in Obama intended to build global support for his policies. They lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation, and praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms, ease American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthen the U.S. role in combating climate change.
"Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics," the citation read, in part. "Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts."
Aagot Valle, a lawmaker for the Socialist Left party who joined the committee this year, said she hoped the selection would be viewed as "support and a commitment for Obama."
"And I hope it will be an inspiration for all those that work with nuclear disarmament and disarmament," she told The Associated Press in a rare interview. Members of the Nobel peace committee usually speak only through its chairman.
The peace prize was created partly to encourage ongoing peace efforts but Obama's efforts are at far earlier stages than past winners'. The Nobel committee acknowledged that they may not bear fruit at all.
"Some people say, and I understand it, isn't it premature? Too early? Well, I'd say then that it could be too late to respond three years from now," Nobel Committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland said. "It is now that we have the opportunity to respond – all of us."
