Homeland Security Committee hearing last Thursday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) likened Fox News talk show host Glenn Beck to Voldemort, a diabolical character in the Harry Potter series. The hearing focused on the numerous policy "czars" that have been named by President Obama, an issue that has been a frequent topic on Beck's program.

It really is amusing to think about how much Harry Potter has infiltrated American politial discourse. Especially the "REPUBLICANS FOR VOLDEMORT" bumper stickers I keep seeing. And weren't people calling the brownshirt segment of the GOP "Death Eaters" at one point?

That Beck is even being included -- named or not -- in a Senate Homeland Security Committee discussion about constitutional law is so depressing.
