A River's water of thoughts

It's been a week since I first came down with the sore throat that then went into fever blisters (on my lips (just two of them)), a fever, shakes and shivers, and overall congestion and phelm.

I think this is compounded by the fact that I am staying in the Brazos Valley, one of, if not the, worst place for allergy suffers to live.

I'm on the mend though and just suffering from a parchy throat and sniffles now.

Tomorrow...er...later today we all getting into our vehicles and driving about four hours to Plano to visit with the rest of the family/clan.

We should then stay for one day and drive back. I think me and mom though might drive on back home...which will be an eight to nine hour drive.

So far I have two gifts...some White Diamonds perfume stuff mom gave me (I don't know why though, I don't like really perfumey perfume, I like the light natural soft touch like this one brand Lucky, that I've had for over six years) and a $25 gift card to B&N from my brother's family. BJ and my grandparents will give me a gift when we get to Plano and then there is the family gift swap game.

Then when I get home I should have a gift from Adam and gift cards and gifts from my flist and Nick.

Okay, now it's Christmas Eve...but today was horrible.

I've been sick since Friday. I had a sore throat, then got me a wittle fever and hell I even puked up phelm, by Sunday I was on the mend. Come Monday I'm down for the count, again. I got a fever blister on my lip...I decide to pop it (bad idea, I know), I then start to have a little cough and now I'm stuffed up in my nose and having to breathe out of my mouth. Which just totally dries out my throat leaving me with more pain.

Tuesday, me and Jason (my brother the invalid) are watching my tiny 22 month old niece because SHE's sick. She is taking meds for bronchitis. She couldn't go out in the freezing rain and shop with grandma and her mom and sister. So we watch the USA marathon of NCIS re-runs.

The invalid isn't doing too well either. He has a fever and it spiked at 103. Now it's back down to normal. Still, this isn't good. He's recovering from surgery and half the house is sick.

And we are still planning on going up to Plano (near Dallas) to with the family for a Christmas after Christmas get-together. However, me and mom are planning to stay up there a few days to deal with this land issue with my inheritance stealing bastard of an uncle.

Then, finally I will be home to my nasty, holey, leaky, cold home but still my home, my bed, my computer, my porn.

At least I'm bringing home gigabytes of entertainment.

My brother's surgery went well and all and on the day that they came back, Friday, I started to come down with a sore throat that just escalated.

He had a lacroscopic surgery to replace the stomach flap that blocks out acid. His flap was open all the time and he had horrible acid reflux. So did a procedure similar to the gastric by-pass and by-passed his intestine. Now it goes straight to his stomach. He has six puncture wounds on his stomach and is quite sore, but he's doing really good.

Me, on the other had I'm sick as a dog. At the moment my throat is still sore, I've been gargling hot salt water, listerine and drinking water, ginger ale, and gatorade. Today I was finally hungry so I had some food.

Mom thinks it's a sinus infection because of the phelm and that it's what she had. But she didn't have the sore throat. So mom is worried that it might be strep. You get it a couple of times in your life and it's automatically what a person thinks you have when you have a sore throat.

I've been cat napping for a long while. Hour up, hour out, 30 minute nap, 30 minute awake. It's frustrating when you are trying to watch a movie or tv show. But hey we have directv with a dvr. ;d

Last night I actually puked up green nasty phelm. I didn't even know it was possible to do that.

Suffice it to say, I've been miserable the past 36 hours. I'm not sure if I'm getting better or not. I really don't want to have to go to the doctor for antibiotics because I have strep throat. I have no medical insurance and I'm refusing to take the amoxicilian that mom has. I've been told before that I'm resistant to it. Not to mention, I hate taking any pills of any sort.

I want to participate in the Winter dragon hunt, but I don't think I can. I'm going to give whitestar a ping and let her know she will have to get them for me.

*sighs*
One bad thing about being at my brothers is that their firefox doesn't keep a history and they close the windows on me. So I lose everything. ;d I had a few stories I was reading from lj and ij and ff.net and now I can't find them. lol.

At least I'm getting my anime. Each episode is like 100mb and at home that would take me 6 hours to download, times that with how many episodes I want (Amatsuki series (13 so far) and Junjou (2 seasons)) and that is a LOT of time spent downloading anime. ;d

I'm wondering if I can talk mom into trying to get wireless at the house. I think using the excuse that it would save money because I wouldn't have to buy the anime to watch it would be good. Otherwise...I think I will have to find someone else who has dsl or something and bum off them.

Oh, I got my grades back. Two A's, in Ethics and Intro IDS, and I pulled off a B in English!! I got a 3.6 GPA!!! Holy shit, I've never had one as high as that....wait no I did. I once got straight A's one semester in my undergrad years and I had a 4.0 and made the President's list. I was supposed to get some sort of certificate but I never got it.

I'm so proud of myself. I guess I can do this.

My Dragons

It's cold.

Our cold front was NOT supposed to be colder than the artic cold front we had four days ago that is now hitting New England. It is not supposed to reach freezing temperatures. But it is.

So tomorrow we are leaving around noon to 1pm, because we have a four hour drive to College Station and we soooo do not want to drive on ice.

I don't know why...it's supposed to be a simple surgery...but I'm anxious over it. I'm not close to my siblings. I'm the only girl and they are all assholes that will make Dennis Leary and Dick Cheney (except Jason, the one going into surgery because he votes like his wife, democrat) proud. I'm worried over him. I didn't worry when he was in Hungary or Bosnia as a fireman on military bases...but I'm worried now. And it looks like I'm going to be one to comfort my sister-in-law.

Tonight mom is washing clothes, I'm checking up on my flist (I finally got through it all) I could only go back 800 entries...to December 1st. I missed a few days, so I'm checking up on ya'll individually. I don't have time to comment on everything, let alone try to read all the fics I've missed.

I think it's in the hundreds?
This is why I only read pairings I like. Otherwise, I would have even a lesser social life than I do now. ;d

I'm really thinking of doing martial arts, it was fun for me, and I'm waiting until the new years to talk to my advisor and figure out a degree plan. I'm not sure what I want to do, write books or edit books or what, but I want to do something in the field of publishing. I want to do something I will enjoy. I also want to start dating. It has been two years and I think I'm ready. Now if I just get my ass out of the house to meet someone.

My Dragons

I'm working on my English final essay. I'm on the second page now (it's double spaced), I have the works cited page done, and I'm working through it. It's going to be about four six to eight pages long. Which is a decent essay length. She wants quotes and what not, but I'm not going to use them very much. I just want this over and done with.

I'm tired. I'm really tired and stressed. I've done this for sooo long I'm burned out. It's been three plus weeks that I've been working and focusing on nothing but papers and finals...

I need to plan and pack my clothes because I'm leaving Tuesday to go to College Station to be with my brother and his wife, because he is having major surgery and me and my mom are going up there to help Missy and Jason in the recovery of his surgery and to take care of my baby neices.

We are then going to go to my Aunts in Plano to visit with the rest of the family. I haven't seen that side of the family for a few years, since my graduation from College actually. Grandma is having surgery on the 8th of January...and she is old, 82, and has heart problems. There is a good possibility... I mean she is cranky, strong, old woman, and mom still thinks she will out live us all...but there is still that chance.

So we are going...depending on how well Jason is doing.

I might not be home until the 28th.

I'm just...so so very tired. This stress is getting to me. I'm worried about my grades in English but I'm reaching that point that I just don't care anymore. And with me...that's a very bad spot to be.

I'm feeling better.

My mom had bought, last month, some of these throw-a-way heating pads, it scared me because of all the warnings but I was desperate. I haven't been in this much pain in ages and it was a really heavy flow and for a little while I was worried that maybe I hemorraghed something. But the heating pad really works and I don't have to constantly get up and reheat it. No mess, no fuss, everything's simple. You open it up, exposing the stuff to the air, rip off the paper on the adhesive and you are good to go.

It's nearly 11pm and I'm finally feeling up to working on my essay. I'm working on the discussions, which is helping me with my paper...sort of. I still only have about a hundred works written but I'm thinking up ideas and brainstorming.

Oh yeah, did anyone hear that the head of a Evangelical leader being forced to resign because he publically stated that he supports CIVIL UNIONS (NOT Gay Marriage) and is a big fighter AGAINST Global Warming? WTF?!

I doubt no one has not heard about the Ill. Governor's Crime Spree...the F.B.I. has been investigating this guy for a while and had a wiretap on him since October.

He was actually trying to sell Obama's Senate Seat and that's just the tip of the iceberg. He was planning to withdraw government support to Children's Memorial Hospital! Not to mention the deal with the Chicago Tribune.

I'm flabbergasted at what this guy thought he could get away with. Chicago may be a mob city like New York, but for god's sake didn't this idiot learn anything from the mob? He blabbed all his plans on the wiretap!! He laughed, just yesterday to two days before, about being possibly wiretapped. He actually planned to fill the Senate seat himself since he said that he could raise a higher defense money-wise as a sitting Senator than a sitting Governor.

There is no way this guy is going to get off. Not to mention that 3, count them 3, ex-Ill. Governors are in jail for corruption.

On for some interesting/good news. The E.U. is taking the case to the U.N. to decriminalize same-sex sex.
The European Union (EU) wants this week's 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to also mark the expansion of the document to condemn the criminalization of same-sex relations.

The Vaticanis worried that this could lead to Same-Sex Marriage being recognized world-wide. I'm pissed the U.S. is staying mum on this. This is not about Same-Sex Marriage this is about the horrible discrimination of the criminalizing of same-sex sex. It is still a crime punishable by death in many countries.

I swear to god, this English class is the worst and hardest class I have ever taken. This is worst even than the Medical Anthropology, class in which I learned all sorts of things about medical science and deadly contagious diseases, and the Philosophy in Literature class I had in which I wrote a 32 page thesis on finding the purpose and meaning of life.

I am now severely thinking about dropping English as a second concentration from my IDS degree. I know I only have two or three more classes...but god I have spent three to four weeks writing this fricking pain in the ass paper and I'm STILL NOT FINISHED!! And on top of that I FINALLY got my instructions and assignment on my Final Exam Essay. THREE FREAKING PAGES LONG!!!

I have to write a non-specific amount of pages on ENGLISHNESS! All using quotes and/or outsider readings (read: more scholary long-ass articles) using five of the seven books in which I still haven't read because I've been too FREAKING BUSY with my other two classes.

I want to cry. I really really want to cry. This paper is late, I've been given until the weekend to finish the paper. I don't like it. Missy says it good...but she's not an English Professor grading on a Masters level...

I'm going to fail this class...or get a low grade (like a C which is FAILING!)!

I hate this class. I really hate this class. I've hated all my English classes. This is why I wanted to be an Anthropologist where all I need was details on subjects not written papers on Literature BOOKS!!!

*cries*

Good news is that I am up to 13 pages...bad news, I still have two more to write and send it off to Missy to read and critique and then I turn it in.

Then I need to get work on my Ethics Essay final, which THANK GOD, will only be about 1,200 words long = about 4-5 pages and NO WORKS CITED!!! NO MLA FORMAT!! And then I have IDS and then...it's the god awful English Essay Final.

I have no idea how the hell I'm going to write that. But I've already made up a plan to write it about 2-3 pages long. At this point, I just want the semester to be over and I could care pratically less on pulling an A out of my ass.

Me, mom, and adam (his day off) went around town. First the bank and then a small shoppe in the old district off Main St to get this WebKinz for his granddaughter. We found one for a good price and everything was going fine until we realized the car wouldn't start.

It's the security short. We had to wait twenty minutes to get the car started. The lady at the shop had come out to put Christmas lights and decorations up with other shop owners on the street and had asked us if we need a jump. We told her what the problem was and she and the others went back to what they were doing. Finally the twenty minutes passed the security light stopped blinked, went solid, and the car started.

On we went to Wal-Mart to get a drill for Bill adam's kid. As we were driving we saw chairs out in parking lots and noticed blocked off areas and realized that the Christmas parade was tonight. No wonder they wanted us off the street. ;d

At wal-mart, things were going okay until after check out...and I just wanted to get out of there. I went all bitchy teenage angst emo mode and we left without getting stopping by the subway for food. I don't know why I practically pulled a childish fit in the store... I just had this feeling that I didn't want to be there anymore.

So on we came home. The front door was locked and none us had a key and bj's door is screwed in from the Hurricane and blocked off so mom went in through the back. After a while, mom and adam left for food and I stayed home watching tv.

They came back with food and I ate it and now I feel ill. I think I've been feeling ill most of the day, it's just this was the first time I had food.

It wouldn't bother me but I have my research paper due today. Good thing that the Professor said that for those of us who needed it, she would let us turn it during the weekend without penalty. I'm going to try to work on it tonight...but I just don't feel well.

And next week is finals. I have my Ethics essay due on Tuesday and my IDS is due on Wedneday and English is due Friday.

I can't wait until after next week. This month has been hell.

It's the last offical week of school until finals, which is next week.

All my finals are essay and I can turn them in early except for English since I still haven't been given it yet.

I have up to 10 full pages written and I'm breaching 11. So Yay. But I still feel iffy on it. I keep checking what I have against my thesis statement and it feels like a summary of things, but I'm exusing it because I believe I'm showing his life before and how it changed and that is relevant to the thesis statement...sort of.

But I figure that I can't re-write the entire research paper in less than three days so I should just continue on with what I have and try to tweak things to have it be relevant to the t.s. That should work right?

Btw...I'm severely stressed. I'm feeling the pressure.

I got so pissed today because the f*cking power went out again and like always IE and FF went down as well and since FF has this system restore feature put in (which so totally f*cking rocks) whenever I restart I have to re-load EVERYTHING on DIAL-UP!!! It takes me hours to get back what I had up and even then sometimes it times out and I can't remember what page was there so it's lost.

I like the FF library function but damnit can't we organize it with two functions instead of just one? I just don't like the fact that I have to dig through a lot of stuff when it would it be better to put all pages from the same website under a little folder or something like what it used to be!

So anyways I got a bunch of tabs in FF that haven't fully re-loaded and it still ticks me off.
My sister-in-law, Missy, called, she got a wicked new job at the University. She starts on the 12th. So that's some good news, finally. After the phone call we went to HEB and Radioshack. We got food and mouse traps and a tv/vcr colaxial cable screw-on to push in adapter.

The mousie is going to die. Sorry for rat lovers, but we have good reason to believe that this is a disease filled rodent and not a healthy pet rat. And it got into our pantry and started to eat our food. It must die.

EDIT: The power went out, again!! Twice! And now my VCR is dead. I think the surge fried it but the damn thing was plugged into a surge protector. Both VCRs wouldn't work, we thought that they got fried or something and couldn't figure out why the other stuff plugged into the surge protectors worked and these didn't.

Mom freaked me out by saying how glad she was that it wasn't my computer and how I should e-mail a copy of my paper to myself, so I did.

Anyways, dad came home, we told him and he tried to leave the VCR unplugged for a while in a hope that it would reset. It did and they both work now. So YAY!

Working on my paper.

I went back a page and I'm adding stuff but I got up to 9 full pages and I'm breaching the 10th.

So...basically I got five to six more pages left.

I'm unsure about the paper though. I don't think it's very strong and this is supposed to be a graduate level class.

I've given up hunting and catching an autumn but some have offered to try to trade with me. I can't do it at this moment because of my paper, exams, and finals.

Mousie hunting in your house is not fun.

Today I went shopping, for food and neccesary items. My family doesn't do the Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping sprees. One, you have to wake up at ungodly hours stay outside for hours on end to get into the store and fight with people to get what you want. Two, we don't have a lot of money. Three, none of us have X-Mas gift lists let alone bought the gifts yet.

I've been working off and on on my paper. I put in a few more lines. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish 10 more pages of this. *sighs* I don't hate the subject...but I'm just not feeling it in me to write this. Too much is going on in my life. It's cold, I have other school work, my mom's arm is really bothering her - we think she broke it/tore a tendon a few months ago when she fell - Adam is bitching about his job, the whole John factor, money, India, the economy, me having no income and being too busy to work, my brother having surgery in two weeks, the holidays, war, etc...

I'm just not focused on this stupid paper. And it's due Friday. In fact today I mailed off 70+ pages of paper which was my six sources for my paper to my professor.


John, Adam's brother, and my step-uncle? got his results back from all the exams he took. He still hasn't taken any chemo yet. The cancer that was in his back has now spread to his shoulders. He's absolutely terrified about the chemo and being sick and dying. *sighs*

Oh and it's confirmed Madam Sectretary Clinton. I think she will be really good at that.

Also, did any of ya'll know that the U.S. warned India of possible terrorist attacks by sea on hotels and specifically mentioned the Taj Hotel, back in October of this year?! ...heads are going to roll on this one.

In other news. I officially give up the search for rares. I can't get them. I tried for like 10+ hours to get a damn Autumn dragon egg. Nothing, nada. Not even a split or dino.

I'm competing with too many people and I have too slow a connection and I don't know what to do. So I'm giving up.

TEXAS is out of the Big 12 Title game because Okalahoma beat them out by 1 f*cking point that was decided by a goddamn computer and the Coach's polls!

The Sooners (11-1), who lost to Texas 45-35 in October, barely edged the Longhorns. Oklahoma has a .9351 BCS average. Texas’ BCS average is .9223.

Oklahoma was a point ahead of Texas in the USA Today coaches’ poll and six points behind the Longhorns in the Harris Interactive. The computer ratings preferred the Sooners and that made the difference.

How many f*cking years are we going to have this problem? A tie being decided by polls and a f*cking computer to decide the championship games?!!

TEXAS beat both Oklahoma and Missouri and yet it's not the team that's going to the Big 12 Championship Game. Oh no, Oklahoma, whom Texas beat 45-35 - smirks in joy at the rememberance of her mother's screams, whom is an OU fan, during the game - is going to play MISSOURI for the Big 12 Title Game!!

Missouri is a pissant team compared to Texas and Oklahoma. This is practically guaranteeing Oklahoma to play Alabama for the BCS Championship Game!!!!

That's not fair!!!! Texas beat Oklahoma fair and square!!!

Texas was the better team! And the only reason Oklahoma is going to the damn Title game is because they ran up the score on Texas Tech and OSU!!! They just had to put that f*cking touchdown against OSU last night in the last 20 seconds of the game when they were already up 2 f*cking touchdowns!!!

Those goddamn Sooner bastards!!

Why can't we just have a playoffs system?!

My step-brother got arrested, again.

He ran a red light and the cops ran his license and discovered, shock all shocks, that he has warrants out for his arrest. So he's in jail. And, since we only paid one year in his surcharge to keep his license by paying the fines, we have to add another $300/3 years to that. Because the damn dumbass didn't go for this whole freaking year to sit out his fine for 3 1/2 to 4 days in JAIL!!! And Adam, my step-dad and the breadwinner for this family, will have to pay it. AGAIN! I hope they leave his ass in there.

All of this is because he won't pay the fine that he got for driving without state inspection stickers and insurance. So he has warrants out for his arrest.

I'm guessing his girlfriend and mother of his child wasn't with him since she would be in jail with his ass. She has more warrants out for her arrest than he does.

Are they ever going to get their act together? They already lost custody of their kids.

In good news, saw Four Christmases today, me and mom liked it. Btw, did you know that Dwight Yoakum and Tim McGraw are in the film? Can you spot them without being told who they were?

Oh and in interesting news. In the first quarter of the OU/OSU game one of the announcers made a very slashy comment. He was talking about how the qb was looking to throw his pass, noticed there was no one and tried to run it, only to get his ass blitzed and pushed back like five or so yards. "His drunk buddies left him and he was naked out there."

Okay, so since Pushing Daisies is being canceled but coming back in comic book form. I'm thinking that if we, the fans, make the comic book series a success they might bring them back for a movie. Kinda like how Firefly came back as Serenity. ;d In the meantime, the People's Choice Awards are up for voting, and if we, the fans, join the site and vote, we might be able to vote PD as a winner. And how badly will that look to ABC to cancel a PCA winning show?

Btw, Dirty Sexy Money is the only ABC show that did not get renewed that has not released its cast. So they might be able to bring back that show.

My paper is going really slow. It's stuck at 7 pages and that last is just a bunch of sentence starters and concluding paragraph starters for me to fill out. I'm thinking of doing a couple of block quotes...but I already have two and I'm worried about weakening my paper by doing that so often... But then again I need to make the 15 page quota.

Typically, I'm good at writing papers...but this semester...it's just been hell. I think three classes a semester is a bit much. Grad school is just so much harder than undergrad.

Stu Rasmussen was elected as Mayor this election in a landslide in Silverton, Oregon. The interesting part of this is that Stu used to be the Mayor in the 90's but back then he was fully male, now he is a transgendered person (who has no plans to become a full woman...so he's half and half). He is the first open transgender to be elected to office. He also has a girlfriend of many years, 30?

Is this not incredible?

We are making real strides in bringing equality to all persons of all genders, sexes, and sexualities.

Didn't you hear, Colorado elected their first openly gay Representaive, Democrat Jared Polis, to Congress this election.

Amid all the bad stuff going on; I still feel hope.

Seems like I might be wrong on Palin spending. They (whose they?) say that she's planning on keeping the clothes. Of course, Palin is defending herself and considering that these people are still anomynous...who can blame her.

Ouch, did you know that 10 million people are unemployed? Over 1.2 million lost their jobs this year and if ONE of the Big Three Automakers goes under over six million people will lose their jobs?

What do ya'll think of the Protesting going on in Cali? Should the people be protesting the Mormon Church? What about a supposed boycott against Utah?

Also, is it true that if they did let Prop 8 fail that if a priest denied wanting to do a gay marriage service/or spoke out against them that he could get jailed for it because it's discriminatory?

Franklin may win his race. There's been 18,000 undervotes, people forgot to vote for or the machine didn't pick up the Senate race votes. 10,000 of those are from Obama win areas and if turns out that the machine didn't pick them up - as they will be looking at the print outs or something - then the votes will counted towards the totals. Which will then tip the race in Franklin's favor.

Holy smokes, one of the banks I was choosing from to get my Student Loans has failed! Bank Closures in Texas and California.
