People reports on Daily Mirror calling Daniel Radcliffe a pothead

BUZZ: Daniel Radcliffe Plays a Pothead?

Under the headline "Harry Pothead", Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe's mug is splashed across Friday's front page of a British tabloid – showing him in what can only be described as high-spirited party mode.

In the blurry photo, the actor is smoking what the Daily Mirror describes as a "spliff."

But Radcliffe's rep insists he's not smoking what the paper says he's smoking. "We categorically deny the allegations regarding Daniel Radcliffe published in today's Daily Mirror," the rep tells PEOPLE. "Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this. We are considering our position and will be taking all necessary action in relation to such allegations."

The photo of the bleary-eyed Radcliffe, 20, also show him with an elaborate, elongated mustache painted on his face.

Party pal Wadia Tazi, 26, tells the Mirror: "Daniel was laughing and seemed to find it funny. But he didn't really look like he knew what was going on."

The paper says the party took place in a North London high-rise and was hosted by a friend of Radcliffe's sometimes girlfriend, actress Laura O'Toole.

My fandom in my politics? Loving the lulz...

You know what is so cool? Having our Reps and Senators call out people as characters from our favorite books series.

Homeland Security Committee hearing last Thursday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) likened Fox News talk show host Glenn Beck to Voldemort, a diabolical character in the Harry Potter series. The hearing focused on the numerous policy "czars" that have been named by President Obama, an issue that has been a frequent topic on Beck's program.

Oo

I just finished reading Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles in two days! My mind is...it feels like this:
Photobucket

I literally had to stop reading a few times to keep from bawling my eyes out.

God CLAMP, why the hell do you fuck with my mind like this and break my heart? I'm still dreading/hoping that you finish X/1999 I've already accepted that you are going to kill everyone off. Especially my favorite characters. But being the masochist that I am...I still gotta know what happens.

I hate and love you all the same.

OMG

I'm watching the Supernatural Season 2 Disk 6 special features and the Producer is doing the commentary on the Jinn episode and he point blank addresses the Incest Fanfiction.

It's at the point where they are having the dinner in the restaurant and Dean sees the 'dead' girl and Sam and Dean are hugging. Kripte is talking about how surreal it was to have all the Supernatural alumni women (the ones that the show is about) together...that they inadvertently kill off in horrible ways and how he can understand how this causes a major homosexual subtext to the show and how everyone accuses them of it since it's just the two men on the show on a road trip.

...to be honest I don't really see the pairing. I see how others see it. But me? I don't know...just resembles too much of my own family so I can't see it?

Btw, I got my mom interested in the show. We are watching through netflix. But it takes a while to go through a series disk by disk.

Doctor Who & Torchwood

Okay...I'm going to jump on the fandom bandwagon.

Blame this:

Where do I start to watch Dr. Who? Do I need to go back to the very beginning or just the new series? That's one of the issues why I've put it off for so long. That and not having cable.

So where can I find eps of the shows?

damn

Well damn.

I didn't know they were showing Merlin at 6pm. I think I missed a new episode last week. Better check online to stream the episode.

Did I deserve this?

I am busy working on my new blog on blogger (my computer is dragging slow and freezing up while I'm trying to do this) Green Sea Movement Updates for my Iran Updates when all of a sudden I get this im from some person on yahoo.

I don't know this person and never even heard of them before.

[00:07] crawfordjeremy702000: hello.
[00:08] akuma_river: hello.

[00:12] crawfordjeremy702000: have you seen that film or not.
[00:13] akuma_river: I have but it's not really a favorite of mine and I don't lurk in that fandom. btw, how did you get my im addy?
[00:14] crawfordjeremy702000: at harry_slash yahoo group
[00:14] crawfordjeremy702000: i was looking for someone to do a fic of the species film but no one will.
[00:14] akuma_river: ah. gosh, I haven't visited there in a looong while.
[00:15] akuma_river: I know one writer who crossed HP with Species. But they only took the idea of the alien species and made Harry and Draco members of the species.
[00:15] akuma_river: Have you tried fanfiction.net ? I'm sure they have a page on the fandom and I'm sure writers will be interested in it. There is also adultfanfiction and you might try to search for communities in LJ that might ship it.
[00:16] crawfordjeremy702000: there is nothing out there for that film please will you do a fic of that.
[00:18] crawfordjeremy702000: please.
[00:19] crawfordjeremy702000: you still there.
[00:19] akuma_river: yeah, I'm here. my pc is running slow and freezing up at moments.
[00:19] crawfordjeremy702000: so will you do a fic of that film.
[00:22] crawfordjeremy702000: if you so could you do a nc-17 of laura baker with eve
[00:24] crawfordjeremy702000: this two http://www.margamania.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=145&pos=0
[00:27] crawfordjeremy702000: will you do those two or not.
[00:31] crawfordjeremy702000: so will yu do it.
[00:35] crawfordjeremy702000: no one will do it
[00:35] crawfordjeremy702000: you there.
[00:35] crawfordjeremy702000: hello.
[00:35] crawfordjeremy702000: wll you do laura with eve from species 2 or not.
[00:36] akuma_river: I'm sorry, I don't know that I can. I haven't seen that film since it first came out and I'm a grad student. why not try here, http://community.livejournal.com/passion_perfect/tag/species+2 this fanfic is the exact pairing you are looking for.
[00:36] akuma_river: sorry, my pc was acting up and I couldn't find the link right away.
[00:36] crawfordjeremy702000: i have already read that fic.
[00:36] akuma_river: oh. have you tried asking the author?
[00:37] crawfordjeremy702000: please i am begging you to do it.
[00:37] akuma_river: Listen, I'm sorry. I don't write or really read fem/slash, not to mention I am too busy. I'm a grad student and I have other projects on my table. I'm truly sorry. Why not try your hand at it?
[00:38] crawfordjeremy702000: i will not take no fr answer i only want a short fic so will you do it
[00:39] crawfordjeremy702000: please do it
[00:44] crawfordjeremy702000: well will you do the fic.
[00:45] crawfordjeremy702000: i am still not taking no for answer.
[00:45] akuma_river: you are asking someone who doesn't know much about that fandom to write a femslash pairing in it. It's not going to be great. Besides I barely remember the film.
[00:46] crawfordjeremy702000: so i don't care i want you to do the fic it could be after the film a alternate end.
[00:47] akuma_river: Why not try your own hand at it. like I said, I don't have the time to do this. I'm busy right now.
[00:47] crawfordjeremy702000: i am not a writer.
[00:47] crawfordjeremy702000: so are you going to do it
[00:48] akuma_river: I'm sorry I can't. I noticed that there is at least one writer for the flim series. It's not a big enough fandom on fanfiction.net so it's in the Misc.Movies subgroup.
[00:48] crawfordjeremy702000: FINE ASSHOLE FUCK YOU LYING BASTARD.
[00:48] crawfordjeremy702000: I HOPE YOU GO TO HELL

...so did I deserve it?

1/2 Prince FTW!

My god, I'm dying of laughter from chapter 32. (go read it on OneManga.com or Mangafox.com)

I seriously love this series.

Question...is it gay to be a female playing a male in a vr game and kiss a female? What about being a female playing a male vr game and kiss a male? What about if one of the male characters who kisses your male character knows that you are really a female?

I'm so confused right now.

Prince is certainly getting a harem...of both sexes...and species since he's an Elf?

J.K. farting money

ontd_political is sucking the life out of me. Damn you [info]the_con_cept, I'm now hopelessly addicted. I don't understand how the newscasters can possibly say that August is the slow month of news...have you seen Oblermann or Maddow lately?

I should be in bed asleep, 6:20am, because I'm going to Corpus Christi to go to the Aquarium where my brother and his wife and kids are staying for vacation. Yes, the neices I watched over for like a week (well really the weekend...the rest was vacation for me) I'm going to see again for fun. Then after a week I gotta go back and take care of them again...or send my mom. Because that Monday is the first day of school.

Anyways, I should be asleep but I'm awake because some asshat went and made comparisons between Neda and that dumbass who was against healthcare and ended up 'hurt' from a fight he instigated and is now asking for donations to pay for his 'medical care' because he got laid off and doesn't have health insurance. Yeah that's a big fucking piece of IRONY there. Irony or stupidity, I can't tell which at this moment.

Anyways, this is priceless:

news you might like to know

First off, did you guys know that Daniel Radcliffe writes poetry? He's even had a few published, he's them under a pseudonym, Jacob Gershon in the 2007 edition of Rubbish magazine . One of them is about a middle aged man having an affair, Away Days. Harry Potter's Anonymous Poems

Away Days
Beside these verdurous and wind-blown fronds
I lie with two long-legged, glistening blondes.
The wisps of comb-over that I call hair
Are slowly bleaching in the sunlit air
That's also turning orange the skin I wear.
The wife thinks I'm on some dull business trip!
'Poor bitch,' I think and take another sip
Of sweet champagne with no hint of remorse.
I mean why would you bother with divorce?
It's so much easier to slip away
And put a week aside so you can play
Without the chance of ever getting caught
And leaving her and Robert so distraught
That they would never speak to me again.
What is the point in causing all that pain?
It's better to protect your son and wife
And casually build up a secret life...
Soon they will want their money and I'll pay,
Oh, but who cares? I make five grand a day!
My buzzing phone reminds me of this trick,
I tell her I'm busy, my God she's thick.
She always just accepts, never inquires.
Which is just what I want with my desires,
To sweep off suddenly Overseas
And **** whoever I bloody well please.
In every port a new exotic squeeze
And I mean it when I say exotic,
My carnal exploits have been quite quixotic!...
No doubt I'd be incapable of saying it,
But I don't mind if there's no trouble paying it.
Too soon I'll go back to my family
And enter through the door and there will see
The trusting faces of my wife and child
Whom, without their knowledge, I have defiled
With hookers and lies and sordid relationships
On various and frequent business trips.
My wife sweetly smiles and her eyes seem glad
My son gives me a hug and says: 'I've missed you, dad.'

...am I the only getting plot bunnies dancing in her head?

Also, UK's The Independent did an excellent article on Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder.
Unlocked: the secrets of schizophrenia.
Scientists have discovered a remarkable similarity between the genetic faults behind both schizophrenia and manic depression in a breakthrough that is expected to open the way to new treatments for two of the most common mental illnesses, affecting millions of people.

Previously doctors had assumed that the two conditions were quite separate. But new research shows for the first time that both have a common genetic basis that leads people to develop one or other of the two illnesses.

Three different international studies investigated the genetic basis of schizophrenia by pooling their analysis of about 15,000 patients and nearly 50,000 healthy subjects to find that thousands of tiny genetic mutations – known as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) – are operating in raising the risk of developing the illness.

Comprehensive Sex Education and other interesting news

This is just another reason why I want to live in Sweden.

I wonder how they are on freedom of speech? Manga porn...stuff like that?

federal judge on Thursday overturned guilty verdicts against Lori Drew, issuing a directed acquittal on three misdemeanor charges.

Reason being because it would criminalize what would usually be a breach of contract in website TOS.

Wu also doubted that MySpace provided sufficient notice to members to hold them responsible. If a user didn’t read the terms of service, the judge asked prosecutor Krause, could they still be charged with violating them?

Krause struggled to respond to Wu’s questions, emphasizing that not every terms-of-service violation would be prosecuted as a crime. In Drew’s case, he said, there was sufficient evidence to suggest that she knew what she was doing was wrong.

But Wu disputed this, pointing out that the government’s star witness — Ashley Grills — had testified that she never read the terms of service before clicking on a button agreeing to them.

Wu and Krause circled around each other for several more minutes before Wu finally announced that he was granting the defense’s motion to acquit.

Penguin Parents Won’t Chip In to Help Handicapped Spouse

Why you can't keep your foot out of your mouth?

Using ingenious experiments to reveal the brain’s hidden machinations, Wegner and others have found that our brains expend steady, conscious effort to avoid talking about ex-girlfriends on first dates, sending putts off the green, or letting slip the real reason you were late for work.

But when our conscious minds are stressed and preoccupied — by, for example, a desire not to screw up — a subconscious process devoted to guarding against the mistake slips through. Unwanted thoughts pop into the forefront of your mind.

DOJ formalizes probe of google books settlement

The New York Times and others are reporting that DoJ has written to the federal judge administering the settlement, which gives Google the right to digitize not only works in the public domain but protected works, for a fee, unless content owners opt out, and a huge cache of what are known as “orphan” works — books whose copyright status isn’t clear.

Green Lantern lands comic con premiere and facebook sweepstakes

To sweeten the pot, the comics powerhouses have launched a Facebook promotion to get Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman nuts on board with a time-honored hero just landing his first dedicated film. Interested parties can power up widgets on their Facebook pages, which need, like Green Lantern’s iconic ring, to be continuously recharged to satisfy eligibility for prizes like a Playstation 3, 40-inch 1080 LCD HDTV and a Blu-Ray version of the film. Of course, if they don’t feel like recharging their lanterns, they can also goof around with the widget’s peripheral content, which includes a personality quiz, Green Lantern IQ test, videos, news, and downloads.

Bulwer-Lytton Contest Salutes ‘09 Sci-Fi/Fantasy Writing Disasters

Every year since 1982, the English Department of San Jose State University has sponsored the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, a literary battle royal that challenges aspiring hacks to compose the opening sentence of the worst novels imaginable.

Edward Bulwer-Lytton, the contest’s namesake, was a noted author and politician who coined famous phrases such as “the great unwashed,” “pursuit of the almighty dollar” and “the pen is mightier than the sword.” But, he also opened his novel Paul Clifford with the infamous clunker, “It was a dark and stormy night.” So, the contest bears his name.

Geek Battles

I was reading up on wired (they have articles on Iran and other important things like TPB sell-off - I'm still in shock, I never used them but they were icons!) and I found this interesting article on the GeekDad blog, Great Geek Debates: Kirk vs Picard.

I grew up on TNG it was what introduced me to Star Trek. Picard and Sisko were the captains I knew and loved. So when I finally saw TOS I was, to say the least, disappointed. It was like watching MST200. I felt like I needed to be on acid to watch it. And those SKIRTS!

So my money's on Picard. But overall, I gotta go with Sisko.

Btw, I think you should read the article, at least the comments.
There are arguments between Picard being a coward because of his constant diplomatic approach and caring about people's feelings and killing the most people in his crew because of his involvement with the borg and later being turned into one and Kirk being a womanizing idiot who just jumps into battle all the time.

All of this started because a few weeks ago , , got an idea to start do a post on Top 10 ways to Provoke a Geek Argument, it spawned a sequel and now a series.

Is it alright to feel shameful that I only know about half of the stuff they arguing about because I don't know programing language of any sort, I wasn't real hip on sci-fi/fantasy books or games?

How is it then I can call myself a geek?

I'm wanting a sequel to see what their college years will be like and how many of them will make it to the pros.

when fandoms mix

I found this funny. On tvguide's lost recap from the April 1st ep the reviewer says the following: "This is an "a-ha!" moment in that now we know how cuddly-cute Harry Potter Ben became the adult-sized Voldemort (yeah, I said it) we know now, but let's face it, it's kind of a narrative cheat."

I guess I found it more funny than others because I've read fics in which Voldie was Harry trying not to mess with time and was doomed to repeat it over and over again and fics where Harry becomes a Dark Lord.
